Skylight is an AI-powered tool that detects illegal, unregulated, and unreported fishing across the globe. Working in partnership with government, regional, and nongovernmental organizations, Skylight’s goal is to protect our oceans by focusing scarce resources for maximum effectiveness.
Skylight was created by the Allen Institute’s late founder, Paul Allen, and his desire to push the boundaries of technology to protect our ocean. Using an already-established logo and brand, we designed and built the Skylight website using Webflow, creating layouts that were streamlined and flexible, with room for powerful imagery and snapshots of the Skylight interface, which is provided at no cost to all participants.
We were also tasked with storyboarding and editing a three-minute trailer video that highlights all of the features and services of Skylight. This video incorporates custom animations that show each “event” that Skylight tracks, as well as videography that captures Skylight in use. This video is being used as a high-level introduction to Skylight, so that both governmental and nongovernmental partners can see the value that Skylight provides
