Simplicity shines in a downtown office restoration.

Revitalizing a piece of South Lake Union.

West8 is a redefinition of the downtown office space. Redone inside and out to improve safety, attract tenants, and provide a neighborhood gathering place, West8 is a new hub in the middle of Seattle’s busiest neighborhood.

Kilroy Realty came to us with a dated office building in need of an update. We shortened the current “West 8th” building name to “West8”, developed a new logo and brand, and collaborated with SkB Architects and ADesign Studio to create clean and easy-to-navigate signage throughout the building.

As part of our brand guidelines, we created a complete set of icons for all wayfinding and ADA signage. We developed a custom color palette for the parking garage, with each bright color signifying a level of parking. Additional exterior wayfinding signage was created to make it easy to move around the block and through the building.

In addition to creating a brand for the office space, we also created a brand for the corner café. After completing an in-depth naming exercise, we developed the selected Corner8 name into a complementary brand that would sit well next to the West8 logo. Our deliverables for this phase included a full brand guidelines document, signage application, and printed café items such as menus, stickers, and grab-and-go labels.
